Inflammation of appendix is called appendicitis, this condition if not treated will lead to worsening and rupture of appendix, this leads to inflammation of peritoneum called peritonitis, once peritonitis sets infection can spread to blood, this is called sepsis.

Sepsis will lead to multiorgan damage, culminating in death.

It can be prevented from early diagnosis of the condition, and prompt treatment of appendicitis with either conservative or surgery, monitoring to find out if there is development of complications.
