She has a history of ASCUS about five years ago on her pap; other than that, Pap smears have been normal. Home medications are Norvasc 10 mg QD and hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) 25 mg QD. Her BP today is 150/90. She has regular monthly menstrual cycles. Her LMP was one month ago.

Explain the type of treatment regimen you would recommend for treating your patient, including the choice or pharmacotherapeutics you would recommend and explain why.

Answer: As mentioned in the above case, that the patient has hot flushing, night sweats, genitourinary symptoms. This means that the client is at premenopausal stage. 150/90 blood is more than that normal, hence the client is suffering from hypertension. The type of treatment should include:

• Hormonal therapy which could reduce the risk of cancer.
• Antidepressants should be given to patient to prevent the patient to slip in to the depression.
• Gabapentin can resude the night sweats.
• Vitamin D supplements should be given.
