Answer #1

GI bleeding leads to loss of iron. So food source rich in iron is essential for this patient. Foods rich in iron such as poultry, eggs, red meat, shellfish to be included in his daily diet. Green leafy vegetables, raisins, beans will helps to replace the lossed irons. As the patient is planned for surgery, low fiber well cooked foods is most preferable. More amount of fluids helps to replace the fluid loss. Green yoghurt, milk, vegetable juice can be added in his daily menu plan. Advise him to take small frequent meals and to chew well. Foods rich in vitamin C to be included to enrich the iron absorption.
