Why are Americans consuming more of their energy from sugar than might be healthy? What recommendations do the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2010 make in regards to sugar consumption? How can these recommendations be implemented?

*Eating sugar increases levels of glucose in the bloodstream,which leads the pancrease to release insulin,in turn,cause the body to store more food calories as fat.

*According to the American Heart Association ,the maximum amount of added sugar you should eat in a day are-men:150 calories per day(37.5 grams or 9 teaspoons),women:100 calories(25 grams 0r 6 teaspoons).

* Recommendations to be Implementated are-
-consume less than 10 percent of calories per day from added sugars
-A variety of vegetables from all of the subgroups-dark green,red and orange,legumes
-fruits,especially whole fruits
-A variety of protien foods including seafood,lean meat and poultry,eggs ,legumes and nuts.
