The following nursing care are indicated in this phase of labor -

  • Sufficient physical care and support must be provided to the mother.
  • Thoroughly asses the intensity of pain and help the women in coping with it.
  • Trying different position and ambulation technique to relieve the pain.
  • Monitor fetal heart rate, number of contractions and other vital signs.
  • Encourage the family to support the women in the whole labor process.
