LeFort fractures are transverse fractures of the midface.There are three types of LeFort fractures; LeFort fracture1,LeFort fracture2,LeFort fracture3.

Le Fort 1fracture is the separation of hard palate from the upper maxilla .

Le Fort 2 fractures are fractures of nasal bones,medial anterior orbital walls, orbital floor and transversely fracture the posterior maxilla and pterygoid plates.

LeFort 3 fractures are transverse fractures in which it separates the maxilla from the skull base.

Usually LeFort 1 fracture requires fixation with wires as this does not involve zygomatic bones.The main concern here is the allignment and fixation of dentition.This is done by intermaxillary fixation through wires.
