It is because Infant and maternal are the high-risk population, that is why more focus on infant and maternal. The infant mortality and maternal mortality rate can understand the sanitation, hygiene, preventive practices and services, obstetric services, in the population. In most countries, the death rate of infants and maternal is high because of their risk of infection, disease, death during delivery, and also 2/3 of the population is the infant and maternal that is why it is considered to be a health status indicator of a population.
