Furosemide with spironolactone:

Generally the reabsorbing process of K+, Cl- and Na+ was inhibited by furosemide and this drug continuous useage can causes secondary hyperaldosteronism. Spironolactone is a specific antagonist of aldosterone and it can increase the levels of Na ions and water excretion. But the spironolactone can the retains K+. The co-administering of furosemide with spironolactone is highly benificial, because both can acts as diuretic and an antihypertensive. It reduces oedema and counteracts secondary aldosteronism caused by vol depletion Na loss. K loss is reduced.
