Contrasting agents and their applications for X-ray imaging?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Answer: In the radiology or the X-ray, various kinds of iodinated contrast agents are being used. They have mainly variations that occurs between the viscosity, osmolarity and the iodine content. In the X-ray the main contrast that are being used is the barium and iodine.

One of the major applications is that these substances enhances the visibility, clarity of the internal structures in the case of X-ray. The another function is to reduce the outer rays and increases the image clarity.

The current method for 100% detection of contraband passing through X-Ray screeners by TSA agents in the United States is 14%. We develop a new way that teaches screeners to use different color schemes to illuminate items such that a person can see the items in the color scheme that makes sense to them. Out of the 24 TSA agents that volunteers to participate in a program, 8 were now capable of 100% detection. Perform an appropriate hypothesis test to...

Radioactive iodine is used in nuclear imaging techniques such as photoemission tomography (PET scans) and X-ray CT scans. It decays according to the nuclear reaction below I^123 à Te^123 + electron neutrino The following experiments were run to determine the order of the reaction: Rate (mol/L hr)    [I^123] 0.00725                     0.137 0.137                       0.275 0.00362                  0.0685 (a)write the generic rate law for this nuclear decay (rate=k[I^123]^n) (b) what Is the value of k with its correct units? Barium sulfate, BaSO4, is used in medical imaging of the gastrointestinal tract because it is opaque to X rays. A barium sulfate solution, sometimes called a cocktail, is ingested by the patient, whose stomach and intestines can then be visualized via X-ray imaging. If a patient ingests 200 mL of a saturated barium sulfate solution, how much toxic Ba2+ ion has the patient consumed? The solubility product Ksp of BaSO4 is 1.10×10−10. Let the conditions of the 360 theorem hold such that ray x, ray y and ray z all have the same end point, none of them are collinear, and that no rays lie in the interior of the other two. The crucial step in the proof of the 360 theorem was that among the opposite rays of x, y and z at least one of these opposite rays goes through the interior formed by the other two rays. Prove that...
