Mobility can have either a positive or negative impact on our patient's lives. You are the nurse of an older adult who is being discharged and need to provide education for the promotion of safe ambulation. How can mobility promote a healthy lifestyle?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Mobility promotes a healthy lifestyle and we should promote it in senior patients as it leads to better mental health, better cardiovascular health, weight control, increased social opportunities, improved resistance to injury, improved flexibility, and supporting self-care and independence. Thus Promotion of the mobility should take place at the community level as well as at an individual level. Community planning strategies and community amenities are important to minimize environmental and social barriers and also to ensure equal opportunities for mobility among those with functional limitations. In addition, older people should have opportunities to participate in physical activities.
