Briefly describe what it is Mean Airway Pressure and some significantly important in relation to mechanical ventilator management, how it is measured or monitored.
Explain and describe the pathophysiological effects or impacts on the lungs, airway, and cardiopulmonary systems.
Mean arterial pressure is defined as average arterial pressure during single cardiac cycle.
As blood is pumped out of left ventricle into the arteries pressure is generated. The MAP is determined by Cardiac output (CI), systemic vascular resistance (SV) and central venous pressure (CVP)
So, MAP =( CO×SVR)+CVP
As CVP near 0mm of hg, MAP= CO×SVR
Normal range = 65-110 mm of hg.
It is better indicator of tissue perfusion.
Or MAP = SBP+2(DBP)/3 SBP( systemic blood pressure )
DBP is diastolic BP.
During mechanical ventilation systolic pressure and pulse pressure are maximum during inspiration and minimum during expiratory period.
