In the patient with a history of gastric ulcer the most appropriate analgesic will be - Paracetamol.

As, paracetamol is a acetaminophen group of drug. It acts by inhibiting the synthesis of Prostaglandin through Cyclo+oxygenage 1 and 2 path way. By the inhibiting if Prostaglandin synthesis it inhibits the inflammatory reactions and reduce the pain. It is safe of gastric mucosal layer as it cause a minimal damage. Like NSAIDS it does not produce Salicylic acid and increase the production of HCL. So, it is safe for gastric ulcer patient.
