Fetoplacental circulation which include umbilical cord ,blood
vessels which attach with the PLACENTA , with the help of the
placenta neonatal circulation established .
Placenta functions:-
- Respiratory function- gases exchange between mother and fetus
by simple diffusion at the rate of 8ml/kg/min .
- Nutritional function- glucose and carbohydrates transfer
through facilitate diffusion ,fat ,amino acid ,elements like sodium
, potassium, chloride by simple diffusion ,water soluble vitamin
and even mother hormones except calcitonin and parathormone
transfer through placenta.
- Excretory function - wastes product transfer from fetus to
mother
