Any medical condition or mental condition which is terminal, not manageable , interrupting the work, fracture, communicable infectious disease like active tuberculosis, advanced cancer, any problem in cognitive functions like advance dementia,Alzheimer's disease, etc., can generally interrupt or prevent a person from working in hospital setting.

This is because when a person is with certain disease condition which is debilitating can interrupt the working. They lack energy both physically and psychologically due to disease condition in case if the disease is advanced. This can lead to patient injury or harm.
