When would the use of a randomised controlled trial be inappropriate? Give a public health example and outline the reasons why conclusion randomised control trial would not be appropriate in this context.
There is not Public health option there so I selected Nursing
The use of a randomized controlled trial would be inappropriate
in situations in which we have heterogeneous populations and for
complex phenomena because the conclusions of an RCT may not
necessarily be valid
for each individual patient. One of the recognized problems of the
RCT is its limited external validity. It may not always be possible
to generalize the results of an RCT to the broader community,
because screened volunteers for RCT 's are often good prognosis
patients, in contrast to the general population (Grimes and
Schultz, 2002). For example, if we are discovering a treatment and
population of the human subject is not diverse then we may not
generalize our finding for the patients globally.
