The utilitarian approach for solving ethical dilemmas might be used to judge an action in terms of its consequences or outcomes i.e the net benefits to all the people involved on an individual level

It stirves to do the greatest good for the greatest number while creating the least amount of harm or avoiding the greatest amount of suffering

So for any set of options it would view the most ethical option as the Choice which would cause most benefit and least harm to all the individuals involved

Utilitarian approach and their significance in healthcare settings

It is characterized by 5 features involved

1) consequentialism

2) welfarism

3) equality of moral status and impartiality

4) maximisation

5) aggregation

There are also arguments on this approach as to it is calculative , unappealing but it one of the way to think about ethics and morals
