We are interested in investigating the effect of smoking on the risk of developing a lung cancer. Develop two research plans based on 1) case-control study; and 2) cohort study designs and explain each plan in detail.

For case-control study, be sure to describe how you will select ‘case’ and ‘control’ groups, how you will measure the exposure and outcomes, and what numerical information you will obtain from the study to address the research question.

For cohort study design, be sure to include the type of cohort study designs (e.g., retrospective, prospective), who are the population-at-risk, how the exposed group will be determined, how long they will be tracked and how you will determine the outcome status, and what numerical information you will obtain from the study to address the research question.
