Mr. Bello has been living in the ABC Nursing Home for the last four years. When his family came to visit, he advised them that he has not had a bath in two weeks, he expressed that some of the nursing staff was very rough with him and that they frequently raised their voices when he asked for assistance. Mr. Bello stated that his roommate had a fall last week and the PSWs could not find an RN to assist anywhere. They ended up just calling 911 for assistance. Mr. Bello’s family is extremely concerned and decided they are going to consult the Director of Care. Does Mr. Bello's family have a reason for concern? Why or why not? As the RN working with the family what communication techniques would you utilize in this situation?

Yes of course Mr. Bello’s family should concern with the management about the negligence in maintaining the personal hygiene of Mr. Bello. This is not good, the personal hygiene should be maintained to prevent from infection and disease , and recovery fast from disease.

As the RN i will handle the situation by;

• first of all i will apologize for the inconvenience.

• i will ensure that i will listen to patient.

• i will keep maintained personal hygiene of the patient.

• i will show care towards the patient (Mr. Bello).

• i will listen, talk and respond to Mr. Bello politely.

• i will make ensure to the family that no one will talk to Mr. Bello rudely.
