registered medical assistant ( RMA) and Certified medical assistant ( CMS) are the same things, but the basic difference between the two is the certifying organization and exam.

Differences

1. Certifying organization- CMA is offered by American Association of Medical Assistants and RMA is offered by American Medical Technologies.

2. RENEWAL - CMA credentials tests lasts for 5years and RMA will last only for 3years.

3. TESTS - CMA Tests is slightly longer than RMA containing more challenging problem.

4. SALARY /PAY- According to Medical Assistants Salary Survey CMA earning are comparately higher than RMA.

5. ACCEPTABLE - CMA. is most widely recognized and if one plan to more states within next 3 to 5 years , then CMA is better then RMA as , CMA is more acceptable across numerous states , helps in finding more jobs, even a leadership position and new career.
