Describe how blood glucose levels are regulated in normal health.
Answer: Glucose act as a fuel for the brain. But the excess amount of glucose present in the blood may cause chronic disease. Hence the blood glucose level is regulated. The pancreas have islet cell which secreate insulin. The insulin and glucagon controls the blood glucose level. The insulin is secreted according the presence of the glucose in the blood. Insulin works by absrobing the glucose from the blood to maintain the norm glucose level in the blood. Hence this regulation process occurs as when there is increased blood glucose level, the pancreatic cells secreates more insulin whereas in the low amout of glucose, the insulin production is also low.
