Answer #1

A. I will insert the drops in the center of each eye.

This statement is wrong. the eye drops should be instilled in the lower fornix of the eye(lower eye).

B. I will raise my eyelid up while looking down to insert the drops.

This is a wrong understanding of the client. Usually, the head should be tilted back, the lower lid of the eye is pulled down with the index finger which is helpful to form a pocket in the lower eye.

C. I will keep my eyes closed for 5 minutes after inserting the drops.

The statement shows a better understanding of the client but usually close the eye 2-3 minutes without blinking and rubbing is advisable.

D. I will press the inner corner of my eyes after I insert the drops.

This is a correct statement and client has better understood the teaching. Gently press on the inner corner of the eyes(tear duct) and wipe out excess medication and tears.
