Answer #1

Stroke is a type of cardiovascular disease. It affects the arteries leading to and within the brain. A stroke occurs when a blood vessels that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either blocked by a clot or bursts. When that happens, part of the brain cannot get the blood and oxygen it needs, so it starts to die.

Stroke usually affects one side of the brain. Movement and sensation for one side of the body is controlled by the opposite side of the brain.

This means that if your stroke affected the left side of your brain, you will have problems with the right side of your body. If your stroke affected right side of your brain, you will have problems with the left side of your body.
