Pain after surgery is most common but is tolerable for the first few hours to days with pain medications only. Usually the anesthesia which is given during surgery is effective for about 4 -8 hours. But certain drugs like nerve block used in surgery may relieve pain for 48 to 72 hours.

Opioid are the best way to treat severe pain.

It is a type if quantitative study. The amount of drug given determine the intensity of pain experienced by patient post surgery.

• Provide comfort devices and position
• Check for any nerve block pump attached to patient usually used in limb surgery, knee replacement, hip replacement
