Growth: Growth is progressive increase in the size of a child or parts of a child.

Develooment: is progressive acquisition of various skills such as head support, learning expressing the feelings and relating with other people.

Growth and development go together but at different rate.

Principles of growth and development:

1. It is continuous process from the day conceived until death.
2. It proceeds in an orderly sequence.
3. It happened at different rates. ie rate of development varies from person to person.
4. It is ceplhalocaudal ie from head to feet.
5. It proceeds proximidistally ie from center out.
6. It continues from gross to fine motors.
