There are two general categories of damages that may be awared if a breach of contract is proved.

1.Compensatory damages- covers the loss the nonbreaching party incurred. There are two kinds of compensatory damages:

A . general damages- covers loss directly due to breach of contract.

B. Special damages- cover losses due to special circumstances or unpredictable conditions. the non breaching party must be able to prove that the breaching party has knowledge about the situation and circumstances at the time the contarct was made

2. punitive damages- it is awarded like a punishment for those who act willfully, and commit fradulent. it is done to deter others from commiting any such similar acts.
