Environmental and occupational health practitioners are the one who come across new patients daily. So it is a must for them to be aware of the basic principles like determinants or factors,distribution of the illness,application of different health practices, population.

For example if a patient present with a typical symptom and gets treated and the same symptom if observed in a child from the same location. If the practitioner misses collecting of these basic information may lead to negligence in identifying any new new outbreak of disease.
