Weight of the child = 38 kg

The recommended dose of dicloxacillin = 12.5 to 25mg/kg/day divided q6h (4 times a day)

12.5 mg x 38 kg= 475mg day, 475/4 = 118.75 mg q6h

25 mg x 38kg = 950 mg/day, 950/4 = 237.5mg q6h

The prescribed dose of dicloxacillin is 75mg q6h, but the minimum recommended dose (minimum dose required to produce a therapeutic effect) is 118mg q6h. Hence prescribed dose of dicloxacillin is in a sub-therapeutic dose.
