Diverticulitis is an inflammatory condition in colon caused by perforation of one of the sacs.

There are a lot of secondary consequences that is related to diverticulitis.

  • formation of abscess - pus filled cavity.
  • Peritonitis , causes perforation of colon , its a life threatening infection that spreads in the abdomen.
  • Rectal bleeding
  • Narrowing of colon makes difficult to pass stool , stricture
  • Formation of fistula , fistula connects colon to bladder, to skin , to uterus or other parts of lower abdomen
