One area or a particular experience in which I used my critical thinking skills to make a decision was when during my practice as a nurse I came across a surgeon who was inspecting the stitches of his patient without washing his hands after inspecting a previous patient. I evaluated the situation using the Gibbs model and analyzed the situation that despite me being a junior I should keep the patient’s safety at the top priority and advise the doctor to wash his hands and disinfect then before inspecting the patient. My critical thinking was appreciated by the doctor who said that he will make sure he does this next time.
