10. Salim is 37-year old man who came to your clinic after 4 days of extraction complaining of pain on the extraction area. When the dentist examined the area there was no clot formation.

a. This condition is called Dry socket ,also called alveolar osteitis.is due to loss of blood clot in an extraction site.

b. This condition is usually occur due to bacteria ,treponema denticola which dissolve the clot prematurity.some mechanical factors like sucking from straws, smoking ,use of contraceptive pills increase the frequency of dry socket , not taken medications properly.

c.after extraction always avoid smoking, spitting ,or agressive rinsing ,and use of. Straw not taken medications properly is probable reason that salim has done and than he complaints of pain .

The treatment of dry socket is change the dressing of socket ,irrigate it properly, and apply dry socket paste , contains eugenol ,and give instructions to the patient ,give medications of non steroidal anti inflammatory drug to cure it early.
