Answer #1

7ml

Prescribed = 275mg of amoxicillin

Available dose = 200mg in 5ml

First, we need to calculate amount of dose per ml. For this, we need to divide the dose of amoxicillin with the ml

i.e, Dose per ml = Dose of the drug/ ml

= 200/5

=40

i.e, 40mg of amoxicillin in 1ml

Therefore, 5ml = 200mg

6ml = 240mg

7ml = 280mg

When we take 6ml of the drug, the patient get 240mg of Amoxicillin. But it becomes underdosing so it may not produce desired therapeutic effects.

When 7ml of the drug is given, 280mg of amoxicillin can be achieved which is almost near to 275mg.

Also, maximum therapeutic dose of amoxicillin per dose is 500mg.

So, the nurse should adminster 7ml.
