Patient education plays an important role in managing treatment, the nurse is reponsible to provide health education in order to improve health status and also reduce anxiety. However, the nurse should be able to identify if the patient is interested or not, following are the signs of interests or readiness to learn :

  • Eye to eye contact.
  • Cross questionings.
  • Posture such as upright posture is usually considered alert.
  • Facial expressions.
  • Contributing for example if a nurse has given a statement the patient may add on with their experiences.

The signs which shows disinterest are :

  • No eye to eye contact.
  • Very less participation in the session.
  • No answer to the questions asked.
  • Less enthusiastic.
