CMR or cardiac magnetic resonance is a non invasive method used to assess the cardiac morphology, function, flow and microstructures. Morphology means it help in assessing the size and shape of the heart chambers and other parts. Assessing functions include functions of valves, muscles etc. are tested. CMR gives detailed information about the heart.
The main challenge faced by CMR is it can not be used in emergency situations like as ECG. It need preparations. We can implement CMR by using a contrast agent inject into the coronary arteries. This contrast made some renal problems. And also specific training and professionals are needed to done the CMR. It is very expensive too.
