High priority nursing diagnosis need immediate attention otherwise it will result in harm to the patient.Those problems that are related to airway, breathing, circulation, safety and pain are the ones that need immediate attention. It can also be classified based on the maslows hierarchy of needs. Eg.Decreased cardiac output, Impaired gas exchange, Risk for violence are examples.

Low priority nursing diagnosis will result in the future wellbeing of the patient, but not directly related to prognosis or illness.Anxiety is an example, But if it is not treated at initial stage, latet it will become a problem.
