An increase of chloride conductance is the most important result of activation of which of the following? PLEASE EXPLAIN

a) Acetylcholine M1 receptors

b) Beta 1 adrenoceptors

c) 5-HT3 receptors

d) GABAA receptors

e) Glutamate NMDA receptors

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Ans: activation of GABAA receptors increases chloride conductance

Reason : chloride conductance increase in GABAA activation by blocking potassium outward conductance

Glycine activate chloride conductance by binding to the receptor by inhibition of neurotransmitters in neurons.

While 5Ht3 also have some activation effect on chloride conductance bt not so significant.

While the activation of other receptors such as acetylcholine m1, beta 1adrenoreceptor and glutamate NMDA receptor has no effect or negative effect on chloride conductance
