1For the past few decades hospitals have introduced checklists to reduce preventable mistakes.Use of checklist reduce the number of surgical mistakes . checklist improves patient safety in operating rooms.it also help to improve processes such as timely use of prophylatic antibiotics.The safety checklist improves patient safety by building communication among team members and decrease communication failures.it also help to prevent human error that may result in wrong sided surgery.

2 Todays surgical guidelines and checklists are generic and not tailored to address patient issues and risk factors.This thought needs to be changed.Safety redundant systems must be in place to decrease errors in surgery and therefore different surgical specialities should develop a specific curriculum in patient safety .
