Answer #1
  • I would immediately initiate high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Timely and high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation is the primary treatment for non- shockable rhythms, not defibrillation. Because I have a co-worker with me I would do a two-person resuscitation where we switch positions after about every two minutes. One of us is positioned near the chest area while the other one is positioned near the head of the victim. This position allows a quick position changes.
  • An intravenous pyelogram is generally safe, and complications are rare. As with any medical procedure, intravenous pyelogram does carry a risk of complications, including allergic reactions.

In some people, the injection of X-ray dye can cause side effects such as:

  • A feeling of warmth or flushing
  • A metallic taste in the mouth
  • Nausea
  • Itching
  • Hives
