You are caring for a patient that has a high pain tolerance due to chronic pain and does not look like they are in pain. What would you do if they asked for more pain medication?
While caring for a patient that has a high pain tolerance due to chronic pain and does not look like they are in pain and if they asked for more pain medication as a nurse I will; record i.e. chart the pain, explain the importance of lifestyle modifications leading to effective pain management and ensure that the patient does not become tolerant to the pain medication by changing the pain medication and referring the patient to the use of the nonpharmacological pain management strategies such as; Acupressure, Cold applications etc
