All the popular theories; acknowledge the abuse of power and control by the abusers in the case of domestic violence. Domestic violence is explained differently by different theories; Psychoanalytical theories focus on an individual’s internal psychological processes creating a need to be abusive or accepting the abusive behavior. The cognitive theories focus on how the aggression, abuse, and violence are learned and transferred by individuals to others in the family. Family and systems theories focus on the interactions of the family members and the shared responsibility for all the event that occurs within the family.
