I need a reply to this comment:
A HIPAA breach occurs when someone compromises the security or privacy of protected health care information. HIPAA stands for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act that was passed in 1996. This law enables the ability to transfer medical records and insurance coverage when an individual changes or loses their jobs. In addition, it reduces health care fraud and abuse as well as requiring the protection of the health care records. and industry wide standards. A HIPAA breach would be when any of these processes are not followed and an individual's health care information is released or viewed by someone who should not have access to it. We should care about them because a HIPAA breach means someone has access to information that they should not have access to. Obviously, there is a reason that a law needed to be passed in order to protect health care information, so if someone has access to this protected information and they shouldn't, then that is a problem.
