southern blot is a procedure of DNA separation and identification....some steps are to be followed

1. first and foremost ,the isolation of DNA from the target cell
2. Treat that DNA with Restriction Endonuclease enzyme for digesting for generating DNA fragments
3. Then the separation of fragments using agarose gel elctrophoresis
4. Now that agarose gel DNA bands transferred to a nitrocellulose membrane filter..... the paper is now to be called southern blot
