GABHS(Group A Beta Hemolytic streptococci) is a common bacterial infection causing pharyngitis in children in 5 yr and older children.It is the inflammation of pharynx due to infection.

The common symptoms are fever,cough, coryza,sore throat, cervical adenopathy.

The pharmacology treatment are

Antibiotic therapy:

Penicillin(1 dose of injection benzathine penicillin or 20 days of oral penicillin) is the first line drug of choice

Amoxicillin is equally good

Erythromycin and first generation cephalosporin are options in patients with penicillin allergy.
