Imagine you are the charge nurse at an acute care facility where there are registered nurse vacancies caused by the nursing shortage. You have licensed practical nurses and experienced nurse assistants on your team. How would the Nurse Practice Act rules for delegation affect your delegation decisions? How would you use the joint paper on nursing delegation presented by the NCSBN and ANA as a resource to make your decisions?

Answer #1

This statement conforms with the preservation of the rights of the delegation by the NCSBN (1995). The delegation included this right: (a) the right work, (b) in the right circumstances, (c) the right person, (d) the right direction / contact, and (e) under the right supervision.

The National Council of State Board of Nursing (NCSBN) and the American Nurses Association (ANA) have issued a joint statement on the delegation that the delegation is an essential nursing expert and to assist the practice nurse to use the delegation safely and efficiently. To assist nurses to make decisions related to the delegation, the delegation of both the organizations improves the resources designed to easily understand and use the process. The two types of assets are "ANA policy of the delegation" and NCSBN's "Decision tree on the delegation", which reflects four stages of the process of delegates.
