Provide a brief description of the current Canadian healthcare system
The Canada’s healthcare system is publicly funded (Medicare) and offer the universal coverage for medical needed based on the need for healthcare services, but not based on the ability to pay. It is guided by the Canada Health Act of 1984. Canadians strongly support this publicly funded health care system instead of the private (profit-based) healthcare system.
When compared to the other country’s healthcare system such as the United States, Canada spends less per capita, while showing better results on a wide range of health indicators such as the obesity, infant mortality, and life expectancy. However, the universal healthcare system of Canada is in danger of becoming outdated as per the recent reports.
