A client has come to the clinic seeking a prescription for Sildenafil (Viagra). What is a priority assessment question for the nurse to ask?
Answers: Do you have diabetes mellitus?
Do you have any sexually transmitted diseases?
Do you take an antiarrhythmic?
Do you use nitroglycerin?
We will give first priority in asking wheather he/she was under nitroglycerin medication or not because-
*sildenafil and nitrates acts on muscles that relaxes the blood vessels.due to inhibtion in contraction ,there is dilation of blood vessels, enlarges in diameter which leads to fall in blood pressure.
when both are used combinedly the effects are greater than either one is used alone and there is marked relaxation of muscles that controls vessels with a huge drop in blood pressure leads to hypotension.
The hpotension is determinal to patients who have angina pectoris( in which a high blood flow is needed to heart for its maintainenace).when we combinedly taken sildenafil and nitroglycerin in turn leads to hypotension which precipitates heart attack.
