No, protein shakes, bars and amino acid became so popular after celebrity advertisements people before this still got their proteins.

Having these is not bad but what is not advisable is treating it as healthy drink and consuming it without exercise. It will only add up to more calories.

These drinks are for repairing damaged tissues due to intense workout to repair and grow muscles.

With that being said, it can be supplemented through a protein rich diet.
