Postpartum stage is the time when the mother is recovering and the antomic structure which had changed during the pregnancy is coming back to its normal stage therefore it is very important for the women and the families to be informed regarding it as it would :

  • Help understand better.
  • Help the mother to cope up with the pain and the body structure which has changed.
  • Encourages family support.
  • Fight the postpartum depression.
  • Release the anxiety regarding the lochia as most mother are not aware, it is important to explain them about the lochia.
  • Explain breast care and encourage to keep them clean and moist.
  • Due to baby sucking the nipples it may get sore, it is important to keep the nipples moist otherwise it may crack and may bleed.
  • Encourage to keep the mother warm as she may suffer from chills.
