#. As a leader , patient safety is the absence of preventable harm to a patient during the process of health care .

It is the reduction of risk of unnecessary harm associated with health care to an acceptable minimum.

It is an important or vital factor as it aims to prevent and reduce risks, errors and harm that occur to patients during provision of health care. Patient safety is achieved by continuous improvement based on learning from errors and adverse events. Patient safety is fundamental to delivering quality essential health services.

#. As a beneficiary of care patient safety is the prime importance and right of the patient . The patient needs to be safe while recieving healthcare services and be free of fear so that he or she can provide efficient care and get discharged early .
