Haemoglobin solubility test is performed to find the presence of abnormal haemoglobin s in the blood.

Following reasons will be the cause of false positive result:

▪False positive hb solubility test may be produced in individualz with increased red blood cell ( polycythemias)increased white cell ( leukemias)and increased platelet cell.

▪False result can be caused when too much blood is added.

▪Another cause is high plasma protein level such as in multiple myeloma

▪Erythrocytosis, leucocytosis,causes false positive results

▪Increased level of lipids and globulins also leads to false positive results.

▪Presence of heinz bodies

▪Presence of abnormal haemoglobins Hbc harlem, Hbc geogetown , Hbc ziquinchor.
