Yes this story shows an accurate description of Alzhimer's. Just like in the short story Alzhimer's is a degenerative disease that has a gradual progression. It initially starts with things like little incidences that seem to be mere forgetfulness that later turn massive followed by behavioural changes, forgetting things like one's closed ones and finally personality changes too.
